Galaxy Z Fold 8 Quick Share Not Working

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Quick Share not working usually comes down to four things: Quick Share visibility, a Wi-Fi connection that has quietly dropped, a pending update, or a network setting stuck in a bad state. Work through the fixes below in order. The first four take a few minutes and cover the most common causes.

A note on sourcing. Samsung has not published a Fold 8 Ultra-specific Quick Share or Wi-Fi bug notice that turned up in research. What exists is a Samsung Community thread where a user reports Wi-Fi refusing to connect, and Quick Share starting a transfer and then failing with an error, after updating to One UI 9. Below, each claim is labeled as Samsung-documented or user-reported. Anything that could not be verified was cut.

My experience so far: I have had my Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra for two weeks. I haven’t run into the battery drain other owners are reporting after the One UI 9 update, but I’m keeping an eye on it. What I have noticed is memory: RAM sits around 75 percent, and apps have to reload after I run the memory clean from the optimization tool in the UI. That is a separate topic and I’ll cover it in its own article. Everything below is based on Samsung documentation and user reports, not on a fix I had to make myself.

What users are reporting on the Z Fold 8 Ultra

The Samsung Community thread describes two symptoms on a Z Fold 8 Ultra running One UI 9 (Android 17): Wi-Fi that will not connect to networks, and Quick Share that tries to send photos or files, then throws an error. The poster also says an S25 Ultra without One UI 9 did not have the problem. That is one user’s comparison, not a Samsung finding, and Samsung has not confirmed a cause.

The two symptoms may be linked, which is why one guide covers both. Samsung says Quick Share needs Bluetooth and a Wi-Fi connection, and that the phone may briefly drop Wi-Fi while it searches for nearby devices. If your Wi-Fi is shaky, Quick Share will be too.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Quick Share not working: fixes in order

    1. Turn Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on for both phones

Samsung’s Quick Share guide lists Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi connection, and close range between devices as requirements. Open the Quick settings panel and confirm Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Quick Share are on, on the sending phone and the receiving one. Samsung also says you cannot use Quick Share while using a mobile hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, or Smart View, so switch those off before retrying.

    2. Check who can share with you

If the other phone never shows up, its visibility setting may be blocking you. Per Samsung, go to Settings, then Connected devices, then Quick Share, then Who can share with you. The options are No one, Your devices, Contacts, and Everyone (10 minutes only). Samsung says to use Everyone (10 minutes only) when sharing with someone who is not in your contacts. Keep the receiving phone unlocked and awake while you send.

    3. Restart both phones

Boring, but Samsung’s Quick Share and Wi-Fi guides both list it. Restart the Fold 8 Ultra and the other device. For a Wi-Fi problem, restart the router too: unplug it, wait a moment, plug it back in.

    4. Install pending updates

Go to Settings, then Software update, and check for updates. Samsung’s guides recommend this when devices cannot see each other or Wi-Fi misbehaves. It matters here because the reported problems began with One UI 9, and a later patch is the most likely place for a fix. Samsung has not announced a patch for this specific issue, so treat an update as a possibility, not a promise.

Quick Share also updates through the Galaxy Store. Samsung has a support page for the “Quick Share Agent keeps stopping” pop-up. It says to update Quick Share in the Galaxy Store, confirm the version is v3.5.14.65 or later, then restart. That page covers the crash pop-up only, so use it if you see that exact message.

    5. Clear Quick Share’s cache

Community and third-party guides suggest clearing the app cache: Settings, Apps, show system apps, find Quick Share, Storage, Clear cache. The Samsung support pages checked for this guide do not list it, so treat it as a low-risk community fix. Clearing cache does not delete your files.

    6. Send one small file

Some failures are about file count or size, not the connection. Send a single photo. If that works and a batch fails, split the batch up. Also check the Gallery before assuming nothing arrived: after One UI 8.5, some users reported Quick Share showing the wrong file count on the receiving phone.

Fold 8 Ultra Wi-Fi not connecting: fixes in order

    1. Toggle Wi-Fi and forget the network

Go to Settings, Connections, Wi-Fi. Switch it off and on. If the phone sees your network but will not join, long-press the network name, tap Forget network, then reconnect and re-enter the password. Samsung’s Wi-Fi troubleshooting page lists this step.

    2. Change the MAC address type for that network

Android uses a randomized MAC address for each Wi-Fi network by default, and Android’s documentation describes randomized versus factory MAC addresses. Some routers, especially ones with MAC filtering, handle that badly. On a Galaxy phone, go to Settings, Connections, Wi-Fi, tap the gear next to your network, choose Advanced, then MAC address type, and pick Phone MAC. A university IT help-desk guide and several how-to sites list this path for Galaxy phones. Samsung’s Wi-Fi article does not mention it, so it is widely used but not Samsung-documented. Reconnect after changing it.

    3. Check Intelligent Wi-Fi settings

On the Wi-Fi screen, tap the three-dot menu, then Intelligent Wi-Fi. Samsung’s connection options page lists Switch to mobile data and Auto Hotspot connection there. With Switch to mobile data on, the phone can drop Wi-Fi for mobile data when it judges the connection unstable. If Wi-Fi seems to keep disconnecting, turn both options off for a test so you can tell whether the router or the phone is at fault.

    4. Rule out the router

Samsung says to check that router firmware is current and to restart the router. Also test the Fold on a second network, such as another phone’s hotspot or a friend’s Wi-Fi. If it connects fine elsewhere, look at your router and its settings. If it fails everywhere, the phone is the problem and the next steps apply.

    5. Boot into Safe mode

Safe mode turns off downloaded apps. Samsung’s steps: open Quick settings, tap Power, press and hold Power off until Safe mode appears, then tap Safe mode. If Wi-Fi and Quick Share work in Safe mode, a third-party app is getting in the way. A VPN or firewall app is a reasonable first suspect, though no Samsung source ties any specific app type to this One UI 9 problem. Uninstall recently added apps one at a time, then restart normally.

    6. Test with battery saver off

One third-party Quick Share guide lists turning off Battery saver as a fix. No Samsung page checked says battery saver breaks Quick Share or Wi-Fi, so this is a quick test only: switch Power saving off and retry. If the phone is also draining faster than it should since the update, our Android battery drain fixer guide covers that separately.

    7. Reset Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings (last resort)

Samsung’s guide lists this after reconnecting fails: Settings, General management, Reset, Reset Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings, then Reset settings. Expect to re-enter Wi-Fi passwords and pair Bluetooth devices again, including headphones, watches, and your car. If the car connection acts up afterward, see Android Auto keeps disconnecting. For lag on re-paired headphones, try fixing Bluetooth audio delay on Android.

Still broken? Run diagnostics and contact Samsung

Samsung’s Wi-Fi guide points to Samsung Members: open the app, tap Support, choose Get started, and run the Wi-Fi test. The result gives you something concrete to show a support agent. If the test passes but the problem continues after a reset and Safe mode, and other phones work fine on the same network, a software bug is likely, and only an update will fix it. Watch the community thread for Samsung staff replies.

What Samsung has and has not confirmed

    • Samsung documents: the Quick Share requirements, the Who can share with you menu, the Quick Share Agent update path, Intelligent Wi-Fi options, Safe mode, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth reset, and Samsung Members diagnostics.
    • Users report: Wi-Fi failures and Quick Share transfer errors on the Fold 8 Ultra after One UI 9. No Samsung confirmation or patch date found as of September 28, 2026.
    • Separate issue: Samsung did confirm a fix for Quick Share problems that appeared after One UI 8.5, involving iPhone and Windows transfers. It ships in Quick Share Extension 1.0.915523159 or later and is not tied to the Fold 8 reports, so do not count on it solving yours.
